Custom bathroom vanities built by AV's Cabinets — project photo 1

Custom vanities let a bathroom use its exact dimensions — wall to wall, around plumbing, at the counter height that suits the people using it. The vanities below were each built by AV’s Cabinets as one-off pieces, matched to the stone, fixtures, and trim of their rooms.

What makes a bathroom different from a kitchen

Plumbing dictates more here than anywhere else in the house. Supply lines and a P-trap sit exactly where the most useful drawer would go, and the difference between a vanity full of dead space and one that works is whether the drawer boxes were built to route around that trap. That is a fabrication decision, not a catalogue option.

Moisture is the other constant. A bathroom cycles humidity every day, so construction and finish have to tolerate it: finishes chosen for the environment, edges sealed properly rather than only where they show, and toe kicks detailed to survive a wet floor.

Style then runs the full range. A floating vanity keeps the floor visible and makes a small room read larger; a furniture-styled piece with a stone top anchors a traditional bath. Both are one-offs, and both get their proportions set against the actual mirror, window, and tile lines in the room.

    Bathroom Vanities — questions, answered

Can I have drawers if the plumbing runs through the middle?
Yes — this is the most common thing we solve. Drawer boxes are built with notched backs or U-shaped interiors that pass around the trap, so you get usable storage instead of a cabinet with a pipe through it. It only works when the boxes are made for that specific plumbing.
Is a floating vanity strong enough?
When it is mounted into blocking rather than into drywall, yes. Wall-hung work needs the structure behind it planned before the wall is closed, so it is worth raising early in a remodel rather than after the tile is on.
Which finish stands up to bathroom humidity?
How completely the finish is applied matters more than which one you choose — edges, undersides, and cut-outs included. Painted and stained work both perform in a bath when they are sealed properly throughout.

The time spent at the beginning of the process is critical — you look at as many options as you want until the design of your new or rebuilt space is right.
