Winchester is a gated community built around a championship course co-designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. and Sr. — one of only seven courses in the world the two designed together — with a 35,000-square-foot clubhouse at its centre. Homes there are individually built rather than tract-produced, and communities of that kind run architectural design guidelines, so cabinetry is usually chosen to sit inside an agreed exterior and interior language rather than in isolation.
Outside the gates, Meadow Vista is foothill acreage: older cabins that have been rebuilt, newer custom houses on land, and the practical requests that come with rural living — real pantries, mudrooms, offices away from the house, and stained-wood work that belongs among pines. Both sides of town suit a shop that measures the room it is actually building for.
