Tiburon occupies a peninsula pushing into San Francisco Bay, and nearly every room in the town is oriented toward something: the city skyline, Angel Island, the water. Cabinetry in houses like these has an unusual brief — hold everything a household needs while surrendering the wall to the window. AV’s Cabinets designs to that constraint, then makes each piece to order at its bench in Rocklin and sets it in place personally.

View rooms reward restraint in the places you look through and generosity in the places you do not: low-profile runs beneath sightlines, tall storage moved to the interior walls, glass-front uppers where light needs to pass, and built-ins that frame windows instead of crowding them. Millwork elsewhere in the house — stair and rail detail, paneled studies, media walls — can carry the weight the kitchen gives up.
The town’s older waterfront core sits at the opposite end of the same spectrum, in compact historic buildings where storage has to be invented rather than installed. Both are one-off problems, which is the entire case for a one-off shop.

Tiburon is an incorporated town with its own community development department; neighboring Belvedere is a separate city with separate permitting.
