Santa Clara County — rural by design
Custom Cabinets in Los Altos Hills, CA
Los Altos Hills was incorporated to stay rural on purpose: one-acre minimum lots, no commercial zoning, and famously no sidewalks or streetlights, with a pathway system threading between properties instead. The houses that result sit on land, in old orchard country, and they tend to ask cabinetry for more than a kitchen. AV’s Cabinets builds that full range to order in Rocklin and supervises the installation.

What acreage adds to the brief
Properties on land generate rooms a suburban lot never does: pantries scaled for genuine bulk, mudrooms that handle gardens and animals, wine storage, offices well away from the main house, and guest houses or pool structures finished to the same standard as the residence. Each of those is a one-off build, and a shop that makes one-offs is the natural fit.
The valley-facing hillside lots also bring indoor-outdoor kitchens and great rooms that open almost entirely to the terrace — cabinetry designed to read cleanly from outside as well as in, and detailed to sit comfortably beside stone and glass.

Permits & building authority
Los Altos Hills is an incorporated, residentially zoned town handling its own planning and building. Its large-lot standards mean many projects involve secondary structures as well as the main house; cabinetry itself is non-structural, and jurisdiction questions get settled during design. What we build for Los Altos Hills
Los Altos Hills questions, answered
- Do you build for guest houses, pool houses, and outbuildings?
- Yes — secondary structures finished to house standards are a natural acreage brief, and they are built the same way as the main residence: to order, to the room’s real measurements.
- Can you handle wine storage and a serving bar?
- Custom bars and wine storage are an established part of the portfolio. Capacity, display, and service counters are decided at design selection rather than assumed.
