Custom Cabinets in Palo Alto, CA

Palo Alto holds two housing traditions that both punish ordinary cabinetry: the estate streets of Old Palo Alto, Crescent Park, and Professorville, where period character sets the bar, and the city’s famous Eichler mid-centuries, where a slab door with an imperfect reveal ruins the whole wall. AV’s Cabinets builds both registers to order — designed with you, built in the Rocklin shop, with installation supervised by Andrey.

From Eichler lines to estate panels

Mid-century modern is precision work: continuous grain across slab fronts, hardware-minimal elevations, and reveals that stay true — the Contemporary side of the portfolio. The older estate streets run the opposite way, toward inset doors, paint-grade period profiles, libraries, and built-ins that read original to the house. A custom shop that hand-builds both is the point.

Professorville sits on the National Register, and remodels there can carry historic-review questions; that gets flagged during design, not mid-project.

Permits & building authority

Palo Alto is an incorporated city; Development Services handles permitting, and work in the Professorville historic district can involve additional review. Cabinetry is generally non-structural — jurisdiction and review questions get settled during design. Official resource: City of Palo Alto Development Services.
